Alpine Center launches 3 new BA(Hons) Programmes and a master’s in leadership

2004 promises to be a very exciting year for Alpine Center with the launch of four new programmes of study in collaboration with Bournemouth University, UK:

BA(Hons) International Hospitality Management*
BA(Hons) International Tourism Management*
BA(Hons) International Hospitality & Tourism Management*

The main aim of the BA(Hons) degree programmes is to develop graduates with an appropriate knowledge and relevant personal and professional skills to be able to work effectively at middle or senior management levels in any sector of the International Hospitality and Tourism industry. The above courses allow students to develop elements of specialisation with named outcome routes which might also encourage articulation with the postgraduate suite of courses offered by the School of Services Management at Bournemouth University, or to the proposed postgraduate programmes to be offered by Alpine Center

The programmes are available either on a one year full-time or two year part-time basis.

MA International Hospitality & Tourism Leadership*

This exciting and novel programme can be completed in one academic year (by full-time students) or two academic years (by part-time students) and is primarily aimed at those managers and aspiring managers who are now ready to move beyond management to leadership in their industry and organisation. Those who join the Alpine leadership programme will study, research and experience first-hand (for example in the Applied Leadership module) the 6 M’s of leadership: the leader as a magician, manager, motivator, maximalist, moralist and modifier.

The combined mission of Bournemouth University, IHTTI Switzerland and Alpine Center is to prepare a new generation of leaders equipped with international skills that will allow them to gain leadership positions

anywhere in the world. An exciting feature of the Masters degree programme is that BournemouthUniversity has authorized credit for prior experience. This gives a distinct advantage to professionals in the Greek hotel and tourism industry.

* This programme has been recently validated by the University of Wales, subject to final approval in July 2004
